In 2006 14 young people aged between 16 and 20 died on Cumbria's roads - almost 25 per cent of the total of all fatalities in the county.

Each year young drivers, their passengers and third party drivers and passengers are killed or seriously injured, with inexperience and excessive or inappropriate speed being key causation factors.  It is widely acknowledged that the current driving test does not fully prepare young drivers for the reality of motoring away from the artificial driving lesson environment.

Pass Plus+ is more than a bolt on addition to the standard driving test. It teaches vital skills that will help you become a better, safer driver and could save your life.

Pass Plus+

From 9 November 2009 the Cumbria Road Safety Partnership has agreed to contribute £100 for Pass Plus+ courses. For further information contact Sarah Truckle on 01228 226758 or Jodie Fish on 01228 226705.

We have now secured further funding to enable us to keep the scheme running until April 2011, in order to make sure the scheme does not run out of funding again we have made some changes to the way the scheme will be run.

The Cumbria Road Safety Partnership will be offering a £100 contribution towards the cost of pass plus leaving the rest of the instructors cost to the individual.

Pass Plus+ is specifically aimed at 17-20 year olds and to help us make sure we target this group we are now requesting a photocopy or scanned copy of your driving licence (either full or provisional) as proof of age.

If the Road Awareness Training session is not attended then you will not automatically be put onto the next session unless you contact us to be moved to a future date.

You will be expected to use their voucher within 2 months of the date they attended the RAT training.

You must register yourself on to Pass Plus + and not be registered by your instructor.

Once the training has been completed your ADI will send us the voucher and a photocopy or scanned copy of the DSAs Training Report Form which is filled in on completion of your pass plus.

All this criteria must be met for every individual before we will redeem the voucher.

Please send copy of driving licence to:
