Be legal
cycle lanes

Cycling erratically, avoiding traffic signals and riding on and off pavements places all road users at risk.

Cycling assertivley and predictably on the carriageway and following the rules of the Highway Code will ensure that you and other road users are less at risk.

Be aware that cycling on footpaths places you and pedestrians at risk.  It is illegal and you could be faced with an on the spot fine.  Use cycle lanes wherever possible.  It is important that you know the Highway Code and understand the signals relating to permissive cycle use.
